The are predictions of light to moderate rainfall and thunderstorms in Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal, Bihar, and Jharkhand from May 5 to 9

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted relief from the scorching conditions in several Indian states from May 5 to May 9. Additionally, an orange warning has been issued, forecasting substantial rainfall in Northeast India on May 5 and 6.

As per the weather department, many Indian states saw maximum temperatures ranging from 42-45°C on Saturday. However, the intensity of the heatwave reduced in the eastern and parts of southern peninsular India.

Heatwave to severe heatwave conditions were noted in parts of Gangetic West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Odisha, and Telangana, with maximum temperatures settling 3-5 degrees Celsius above normal in these areas.

Rainfall predictions:

In the Northeast, an orange warning has been issued for rainfall over two days. Arunachal Pradesh is expected to experience intense rainfall on May 5, with similar weather conditions anticipated in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura during the same period.

While heavy showers has been forecasted in Meghalaya and Assam on May 5 and 6.
