Adipurush row: Members of an organization called Rashtra Pratham created ruckus inside a theater in Mumbai on Sunday night and stopped the screening of Hindu epic ‘Ramayana’ based on Bollywood film ‘Adipurush’. They barged into the theater located at Capital Mall in Nalasopara, Mumbai around 8 pm and started raising slogans and forced the management to stop the screening of the film.

On Monday morning, workers of the same organization again reached the mall and started raising slogans against the film. The security personnel posted at the theater tried to pacify them but to no avail.

Kathmandu bans Adipurush

Meanwhile, screening of all Hindi films has been banned in Nepal’s capital Kathmandu from Monday over “objectionable” words and portrayal of Sita in the mythological epic film Adipurush, a top city official announced on Sunday.

Kathmandu Mayor Balendra Shah defended the ban on all Hindi films in the Kathmandu metropolitan area, saying that “irreparable damage” would be caused by screening Adipurush without a single dialogue from the film.

Shah said in his Facebook post, “With effect from Monday, June 19, all Hindi films will be banned from screening within the Kathmandu Metropolitan City, as the objectionable words in the dialogues of the film ‘Adipurush’ have not yet been removed.”

“We have already issued a notice to remove the objectionable part of the dialogue ‘Sita is India’s daughter’ from the film within three days,” he said.

Why the ruckus on the film

Adipurush, which was released across India on Friday stars Prabhas as Raghav (Ram), Kriti Sanon as Janaki (Sita) and Saif Ali Khan as Lankesh (Raavan).

The dialogue on Sita in front of the audience is not the only problem with Adipurush.

In India, the film has been criticized for poor VFX, offensive dialogues and below-average performances by the actors.

Adipurush dialogue writer Manoj Muntashir Shukla on Sunday said the makers of the mythological epic film have decided to “revise some dialogues”, following heavy criticism for the film’s pedestrian language.

How much has the film earned so far
“Adipurush continues to enthrall audiences worldwide, surpassing expectations with a bumper opening of ₹140 crore on Day 1, it added ₹100 crore on Day 2, taking the total collection to ₹240 crore in just two days” Jai Shri Ram,” T-Series said in a statement posted on its official Twitter page.

The film has been released in Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Tamil languages.
