Shatrughan Sinha is Trinamool’s candidate for the by-election to the Asansol parliamentary seat.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Sunday fielded Shatrughan Sinha as the candidate of Trinamool Congress and Babul Supiyo for the Ballygunge assembly bypoll to the Asansol parliamentary seat.
The TMC chief tweeted, “Happy to announce on behalf of All India Trinamool Congress that Shri Shatrughan Sinha, former Union Minister and renowned actor will be our candidate for the Lok Sabha by-election from Asansol.”
“Shri Babul Supriyo, former Union Minister and renowned singer, will be our candidate in the assembly by-election from Ballygunge. Jai Hind, Jai Bangla, Jai Maa- Maati- Manush!” She wrote.
The Asansol Lok Sabha seat fell vacant after two-time BJP MP Supriyo left the saffron party and joined the TMC last year.
The Ballygunge assembly seat fell vacant after the death of Minister of State Subrata Mukherjee.
