Maharashtra: Winter assembly session may be postponed till January. Nagpur News – Times of India

Nagpur: The winter assembly session of the Maharashtra Legislature is likely to be postponed till January due to various reasons. This will be the first season in the city in almost two years as it was canceled last year due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
According to sources in the legislature offices, one of the reasons was the upcoming elections for six MLC seats in the state as the model code of conduct was already in force and will remain in place till December 16. Another reason was the time taken by the Chief Minister. Uddhav Thackeray To recover from a neck injury after his recent operation.
“We have discussed the issue in our cabinet meeting and it has been decided to postpone the session due to several factors. Dates were first proposed in the third or fourth week of December, but after realizing that clashed with the holiday season, it was decided to postpone it until the next month. However, the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) will soon take a final decision in this regard during its meeting,” Patron Minister Nitin Raut told TOI.
State Water Resources Minister Jayant Patil said that the winter session will be held in Nagpur only, but will not start from December 7 as proposed earlier. “Since, the CM is recovering and will take time, it was decided to postpone the session in the cabinet. The BAC will be apprised of the development and will take a final call on the new dates.
Earlier, the session was scheduled in the city from December 7 to 17 and the principal secretary of the legislature, Rajendra Bhagwat, held a meeting with top officials, including divisional commissioner Prajakta Lavangre Verma, collector R Vimala and others, last month for its preparations.
