Maharashtra: Opposition boycotts Chief Minister’s tea party on eve of winter session Mumbai News – Times of India

Mumbai: Opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)BJP) boycotted the chief minister’s customary tea party on the eve of the winter session. Terming the Maha Vikas Aghadi (tub) Government being ‘non-existent’ for last two years, Opposition leader Devendra Fadnavis He said his party would focus on discussion on various issues in the legislature and not on disrupting the session.
“We have got the invitation but this government is to suppress democracy and our MLAs have been suspended. What do we do for the tea party?” He asked. Fadnavis said that the election of the President’s post is always done by secret ballot. “The government does not have faith in its own MLA and therefore has suspended our MLAs to reduce our strength in the House. This is the only government to hold such a short session. Even the Center and other states Governments have also held long sessions. This is out to throttle democratic norms. We will use every means available to us to raise people’s issues in the House,” he said.
Addressing a press conference at the Women’s Economic Development Center in Mumbai, Fadnavis once again accused the MVA of failing to defend the electoral reservation for other backward communities in the Supreme Court. “It failed to collect empirical data in two years and has now informed the Supreme Court that it will do so in three months. It is because of the inability of the MVA that OBCs have lost their electoral reservation in local bodies,” They said. ,
He reiterated his demand for a CBI Investigating scams surrounding recruitment exams for various departments. “The trail leads straight Mantralaya, I don’t think the police will dare to touch such a powerful person who is involved in such misconduct.”
The party will highlight the government’s failure to compensate farmers for the loss of their crops due to natural calamities. “The government has paid Rs 6000 in premium for crop insurance but the farmers have not received anything. Vidarbha is not included in the government’s schemes. This time due to the ill health of the Chief Minister we are in Mumbai for the winter session. Agreed but budget session should be held in Nagpur in March.”
On the demolition of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s statue in Bangalore, Fadnavis said the party condemns it and added that the Karnataka Chief Minister has already clarified that his statement has been distorted. “Nobody in this government protested when someone of their own climbed on the body of the Maharaja. Wasn’t that insulting?” He asked.
