Ten Pakistani terrorists were killed on November 26, 2008, following deadly terrorist attacks in Mumbai that killed 166 people

The Nashik unit of Maharashtra’s Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has arrested a 47-year-old businessman for making a fake call to the police, claiming that three terrorists belonging to Pakistan have entered Mumbai. An official gave this information on Friday.

The official said that the accused, a resident of Ahmednagar, was having a property dispute with his relatives and made the fake calls in the name of his cousin to harass him.

The Mumbai Police Control Room received a call on April 7, in which the third party claimed that three terrorists with Pakistan connections from Dubai had entered Mumbai.

The caller identified himself as Raja Thonge, a resident of Pune, and named one of the “terrorists” as Mujeeb Mustafa Sayyed. The officer said that he also told about a mobile number and a vehicle allegedly used by the trio.

The official said the mobile number was registered in the name of a person from Beed district, but he had no clue about any terrorist. Further investigation confirmed that the call was a hoax, he said.

A First Information Report (FIR) was registered at the Azad Maidan police station in south Mumbai, with the Nashik unit of the ATS also taking up the investigation. He said that with the help of technical analysis and other inputs, the ATS arrested a certain Yaseen Yakub Sayyed.

Yasin Sayyed, who runs an iron coating business, told the ATS that he made the phone call projecting a terror angle as he wanted the police to harass his cousin, the official said. The officer said that he deliberately used the name of his cousin as one of the “terrorists”.

The accused said that he was having a dispute with his relatives regarding a plot of land.

The official said the ATS handed over Yasin Sayyed to the Azad Maidan police, who formally arrested him.

Appealing to the citizens to stay away from such mischiefs, the officer said even if the fake calls play havoc with the police machinery, they cannot be ignored.

When ten Pakistani terrorists were killed on 26 November 2008, there were deadly terrorist attacks in Mumbai that killed 166 people and injured over 300 in four days, nine of whom were shot dead.
