North Korean leader Kim Jong Un brings a baby girl believed to be his daughter to a lavish banquet at a military barracks on Tuesday, indicating the girl is being groomed as the eventual successor to official family rule .
Kim’s second child, Ju Ae, and his father are believed to have joined Kim’s wife Ri Sol Ju on a visit to the barracks to mark the 75th anniversary of the founding of the Korean People’s Army (KPA), CNN reported. ,
For years, Pyongyang’s state media never mentioned Kim’s children, but they did reveal Ju Ae during an intercontinental ballistic missile launch last November.
Since then, the 10-year-old has appeared in several high-profile events alongside her father.
A report by the Korean Central News Agency described Kim and “his respected” daughter at the banquet as a dream come true for military officers.
Photos released by a state-run newspaper showed the girl walking next to Kim Jong Un and his mother as they entered the venue, while military officers applauded.
The girl sat in the middle of the lead table between Kim and her mother.
In November last year, Kim brought his daughter to the test-launch of an Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM).
In the pictures, Kim can be seen holding hands with an adorable girl in a white puffer jacket and red shoes, walking in front of a giant black and white missile and celebrating a successful test.
According to analysts, Joo Ae is equated to a North Korean “princess” and her frequent appearances with her father may indicate that she is his anointed successor.
The report said that North Korean state media had published a story with pictures of Kim and his daughter, describing Kim as his “most beloved” child.
According to Seoul’s spy agency, Kim Jong Un—the grandson of North Korea’s founding leader Kim Il Sung and the third generation of the Kim family to lead the country—married his wife Ri Sol Ju in 2009.
The agency has said she gave birth to her first child the following year, with her second and third births in 2013 and 2017.
