Thiruvananthapuram: The state witnessed 5,038 positive cases out of 68,427 samples tested in the last 24 hours. New cases have been detected, of which 485 were single-dose vaccinated, 2,509 were fully vaccinated and 1,333 persons had no history of vaccination.
35 more deaths have been recorded as COVID deaths in recent days and 77 deaths have been added to the appeals received, taking the total COVID death toll in the state to 42,014.
The total active cases currently stand at 40,959, of which 7.8% are either admitted in hospitals or other treatment centres. At the same time, 4,039 patients have recovered from the disease.
Of the new cases, 4,724 cases have been infected by local spread. The contact source of infection for 244 could not be traced.
Thiruvananthapuram reported the highest number of cases – 773, followed by Ernakulam (764), Kozhikode (615), Kottayam (453), Kollam (432), Thrissur (425), Kannur (327), Pathanamthitta (261), Wayanad (203). ), Malappuram (202), Alappuzha (200), Idukki (183), Palakkad (108) and Kasaragod (92).
A total of 1,63,682 persons are currently under observation in various districts, of which 1,58,990 are at their homes or institutional quarantine centers and 4,692 are in isolation in hospitals.
As per the weekly infection population ratio, the WIPR is more than 10% in 21 wards of 19 local bodies.
