Kanpur: Kanpur Development Authority (KDA) will use remote sensing applications to check illegal constructions and verify properties.
Scientist Alok Saini discussed the remote sensing application, which will use the images collected by the Indian Cartosat satellite of the Ministry of Science and Technology, in a meeting with KDA Vice-Chairman Arvind Singh and other officials.
The objective of the meeting was to apprise the officers about the use of technology to identify the assets of KDA and bring layout in digital imaging. This will help in checking illegal construction and encroachment. It can also be used in verification of residential properties of KDA which will help in allotment of vacant/un-allocated plots/buildings to increase KDA revenue.
The Vice President directed that all such works happening in the city should be brought on one platform. He asked the officers to establish coordination among all the departments so that the assigned works could be disposed of in a time bound manner.
Meanwhile, reviewing the complaints received in ‘Janata Darshan’, it was observed that there were several cases in which the KDA had executed sale deeds to the allottees, though the land was disputed and possession could not be granted to them.
Taking cognizance of the complaints, the Vice President said that physical inspection of the property before executing the sale deed would be a better option. He asked the officials to seek reports from all the departments concerned if there is no dispute regarding the land or building.
He asked to constitute an SOP by forming a five-member committee under the chairmanship of Additional Secretary/In-charge of the Law Department. The committee will study the various stages of execution of sale deeds to avoid any dispute between the allottees and the KDA. The Vice-Chairman said that the committee would prepare a procedural report in this regard and present it to him in ten days.
