Belagavi: Four siblings washed away in water Krishna river They were washing clothes in the river on Monday at Halyal village in Belagavi, Karnataka.
According to the police, the brothers were washing clothes to observe an annual ritual when one of them got washed away in the river while the rest were washed away in an attempt to save him.
Superintendent of Police Laxman Nimbargi said three others fell into the water to save him. Unfortunately, the other men also could not face the water stream.
The deceased have been identified as Gopal Banasude (36), Sadashiv Banasude (24), Dareppa Banasude (22) and Shankar Banasude (20).
Sources said that the villagers observe this ritual of washing clothes every year. Nimbargi said the river was flowing at its peak and advised others not to go into the water body.
Nimbargi said that the NDRF team and police have started the search operation and it will continue till they are found.
