Kanimozhi enrolls women in DMK youth wing as nephew Udayanidhi

According to a statement issued by DMK women’s wing secretary K Kanimozhi, there is a possibility of friction in the internal affairs of the party between her and her nephew Udayanidhi Stalin.

DMK leader and Chief Minister MK Stalin’s successor Udayanidhi serves as the leader of the youth wing of the party. About 2,000 young women attended the party in the presence of Udayanidhi at a grand event held in Coimbatore on 26 December. Most of these women are under 30 years of age. According to party sources, the event has been organized with the approval of MK Stalin.

Kanimozhi, who is also the secretary of the party’s women’s wing, is said to have been dissatisfied with the inclusion of women in the youth wing. On the same day at Udayanidhi’s Coimbatore event, Kanimozhi posted a statement on Twitter. It is said that in the past also some district secretaries of the youth wing were trying to form a team of separate girls within the youth wing. This effort is also said to have happened with the support of the party leadership. However, it turned out that the project was abandoned at the time that if a young women’s team was formed, the DMK women’s wing would take a form similar to that of an older team and that was according to Kanimozhi’s movement. Sources said the recent Coimbatore event led by Udayanidhi has raised doubts whether this is an attempt to rebuild the young women’s team.

While one section of the party said that the infighting between the two leaders in the party was only to increase their membership, the other said that the officers of Kanimozhi’s own faction should be involved in adding more members, volunteers and officials from within the party. Despite the request. Although Udayanidhi Stalin had the backing of a strong leadership, according to sources, Kanimozhi was unable to stop Udayanidhi from entering his territory.

Speaking to News18, political critics commented that every party needs young blood. The political future of the leaders of the youth wing and women’s wing will depend on the ideological training imparted to their members. Rather, simply increasing the number of members in their wing will not help them.

In the tweet, Kanimozhi said: ‘Our organization is a movement created by princely youth and rebel women. Hon’ble Chief Minister and leader of our party MK Stalin in a meeting of District Secretaries, MPs and MLAs on 18th December directed that the ideology of our party should reach the young blood and they should be included in it. Our party’, he said.

Kanimozhi further said that women make up an equal part of Tamil Nadu’s population, and today’s young women in the age group of 18 to 30 have the potential to shape the perspective of society of tomorrow. The role of these young women is essential in shaping the future of our organization. The creation of women’s rights in politics is an expression of the central justice ideology of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK).

“Our organization of women must create the next generation of self-aware, rights-conscious young women. In such a situation, it becomes our responsibility to create opportunities for young girls in the age group of 18 to 30 years who are ‘members of women’s wing’ in our organization. Beyond providing opportunities for young women aspiring to take an interest in politics, we will ensure that the foundation of the future of our organization is strengthened by including young women as members and enabling them to join politics. I urge all of you to launch this important effort and share daily information with the party leadership on the developments involved and the relevance,” the DMK MP further added.
