British media reports suggested the Egyptian forward, currently on a deal that would keep him at Anfield until 2023, was close to agreeing a new contract that would keep him with Liverpool until the end of his career.

Klopp, asked about the status of the 29-year-old star striker’s contract at a pre-match press conference ahead of his Champions League match with Benfica on Tuesday, said: “I am happy because there is nothing new to say.

“That’s cool. The juries are talking among themselves and that’s all I need.”

The German boss said he has a full squad available for Tuesday’s quarter-final first leg in Portugal, with Curtis Jones, Joel Matip and Trent Alexander-Arnold all fit.

“I think Curtis was just a little swollen (after Saturday’s 2-0 Premier League win over Watford), (but is) okay. Same with Joel,” Klopp said.

“And Trent just trained for four or five days, not sure exactly, but he’s ready too.”

Nabi Keita, who missed Saturday’s match due to a knee problem, also trained on Monday.
