J&K Sikh body says, ‘Won’t come on duty until security is given’ – Bhaskar Live English News

Srinagar, October 9 | Sikh religious body, Gurdwara Management Committee (GPC) said on Saturday that members of the minority community will not join duty in Kashmir unless the government assures them of their safety.

Addressing a press conference, GPC general secretary Navtej Singh said that though there were several inputs and incidents targeting minorities in the past, the government did not provide any security to the Sikh community.

He said that the government has failed to protect the minority community in Jammu and Kashmir.

“We demand the government to provide security to our government employees and assure the minority community that they are safe in the Valley.

“Members of the majority community should come forward and condemn the attack on minority communities.”

“It would have been better if the majority community participated in tomorrow’s protest.”

“Unless the government assures security to the minorities, none of them will engage in official duty”.

GPC’s statement comes after the killing of school principal Supinder Kaur by terrorists in Srinagar on Thursday.
