J&K PDP, People’s Conference say govt didn’t allow party’s functions

Two regional parties on Sunday said that Jammu and Kashmir’s Lt Governor administration did not allow them to organize party functions in Srinagar and Kupwara respectively. PDP president and former chief minister Mehbooba Mufti on Sunday said she has been placed under house arrest to prevent her from addressing the party’s youth convention in Gupkar.

The mufti took a four-minute walk around the rows of empty and upturned chairs, where the youth were to gather to listen to him. He accused the government of deliberately shutting down the agency of dialogue and dialogue with the youth so that they resort to violence out of desperation.

“My dear children, you have to be persistent with your peaceful struggle to have your say. The government may try to incite you to stone pelting or resort to violence but you have to be careful. Don’t fall for the trap. Don’t be afraid. Don’t speak up and make sure you are heard,” she said.

“Let me tell you that I wanted to speak and listen to you but the government did not allow us to do so. But don’t worry if they have stopped this meeting, I will say that I will come to your doorstep to listen to your grievances,” she said in a video posted on social media.

After they were detained and youths were not allowed to go to their Gupkar residence, party workers demonstrated at several places against the administration’s refusal to hold youth conventions.

The government defended the move to reject the works, citing the Covid-19 protocol. It also issued orders that the government was stopping the ceremony. “In view of the report received by the Office of the Senior Superintendent of Police, Srinagar and the COVID-19 restrictions in place. It is hereby ordered that the scheduled youth conference to be held at Gupkar by the PDP is not permitted,” the order reads.

The order directed the Station House Officer, Ram Munshi Bagh, to ensure that “no such event takes place in Gupkar without the permission of the competent authority”.

Meanwhile, J&K People’s Conference today hit out at the administration for not allowing it to hold a rally in Kupwara. PC Spokesperson Adnan Ashraf said that the party regrets the partisan attitude of the district administration, Kupwara, in which the party has been repeatedly denied permission to hold a conference, while other parties have been facilitated to hold a public meeting. Is.

“It is extremely unfortunate that repeated requests by JKPC to organize a conference in Kupwara have been denied due to COVID concerns, while other parties have been given the facility and open to hold public rallies. Discount given. We urge @dckupwara to refrain from biased approach in implementing the COVID protocol”, J&K People’s Conference tweeted from its official account.

PC General Secretary Imran Raza Ansari also questioned the justification for denying permission to the PC while allowing other parties to hold the gathering.

“I am in awe. DC Kupwara has no problem in allowing other parties to hold rallies with reference to Omicron. But what is the COVID protocol that DC Kupwara has hidden from the scientific community, which was rallied by our party just a week ago. Denies to do. Permission denied 3 times,” he tweeted.

Meanwhile, National Conference vice-president Omar Abdullah told reporters after a rally in Anantnag that the government was trying its best to break the unity of PAGD. “The government was able to break some components of the PAGD, but the parties present there fully understand these conspiracies and will not allow them to succeed,” Abdullah told reporters.
