James Anderson became the first fast bowler in the world to bowl more than 35,000 deliveries in Tests

James Anderson Records: Veteran England pacer James Anderson has set another world record during the second Test of India vs England being played at the prestigious Lord’s Cricket Ground. Anderson has now become the first fast bowler in the world to bowl more than 35,000 deliveries in Test cricket.

Anderson made this record during the second Test between India and England at Lord’s. Prior to Anderson, three spinners are said to have achieved this feat. He is the first fast bowler in the world to bowl over 35,000 deliveries in Test cricket and the fourth bowler to achieve the historic milestone.

The list also includes Sri Lanka’s Muttiah Muralitharan (44,039 balls), India’s Anil Kumble (40,850 balls) and Australia’s Shane Warne (40,705 balls). Anderson is followed by West Indies’ Courtney Walsh (30,019 balls), England’s Stuart Broad (29,863) and Australia’s Glenn McGrath (29,248).

Anderson is also the world’s highest wicket-taker as a fast bowler.

Anderson, who made his debut against Zimbabwe at Lord’s on 22 May 2003, took five wickets in the first innings of his first Test. Since then he has dominated Test cricket. He also holds the record for taking the most wickets in the world as a fast bowler in Test cricket.

Anderson, playing his 164th Test match, has so far taken 621 wickets and is the third highest Test wicket taker behind Muralitharan (800) and Warne (708).
