The Income Tax Department is raiding the premises of perfume trader and Samajwadi Party MLA Pushpraj Jain ‘Pumpi’ in Kannauj, Uttar Pradesh on Friday.
Based on specific inputs for tax evasion, searches are being conducted at around 50 places in Uttar Pradesh, National Capital Region (NCR), Mumbai and other places, sources said. The search is mostly on people who are associated with the perfumery business.
Pushpraj Jain Pumpi is a member of the Legislative Council from the Samajwadi Party in UP. He had launched ‘Samajwadi Ittra’ or perfume last month in the presence of SP president Akhilesh Yadav ahead of the 2022 UP assembly elections.
