Producers Of Uttama Villain File Complaint Against Kamal Haasan Over Unfulfilled Promise – News18

South superstar Kamal Haasan is facing some legal trouble as a complaint has been filed against him by the producers of Uttama Villain. As per the reports, the complaint was filed due to a breach of contract on the actor’s part.

The complaint was filed by director-producer Lingusamy and co-producer Subash Chandrabose of the Thirrupathi Brothers. It was filed with the Producer’s Council over a breach of contract. The three worked in the 2015 film Uttama Villain, which led the Thirrupathi Brothers to debt. As per more reports, Kamal Haasan promised the filmmakers to work on another project with them which is yet to go forth, even after nine years.

On May 2, Lingusamy shared a statement saying that Kamal Haasan changed the script several times, which led to the project’s failure at the box office. He revealed further that they wanted the actor on a remake of the Malayalam blockbuster hit, Drishyam, but he declined the offer. He reportedly worked on the film for a different banner in a few weeks, the producer claimed.

After the failure of Uttama Villain, the actor promised the producers to compensate the loss by featuring in another film for them, with a budget of Rs 30 crore, which he failed to do. A response from the council is still awaited by the complainants.

Uttama Villain is helmed by Ramesh Aravind and written by Kamal Haasan. The cast includes Kamal Haasan as the lead, along with K Balachander, K Vishwanath, Urvashi, Jayaram and Andrea Jeremiah among many others. It is produced by Kamal Haasan N Lingusamy, Chandrahasan and N Subash Chandrabose under the banner of Raaj Kamal Films International and Thirupathi Brothers Film Media. The music in the film is given by Ghibran while the cinematography is done by Shamdat Sainudeen and the editor is Vijay Shankar. The film was released on May 2, 2015. Although the film opened to positive reviews by the critics, it failed to perform well at the box office.
