Playing his 350th T20I match, MS Dhoni scored a brilliant run out to dismiss the dangerous Bhanuka Rajapaksa of Punjab Kings. The incident happened on the second ball of the second over, which was bowled by Chris Jordan.

It was a length ball on the stumps, Rajapaksa pushed it to the leg side and it was set. Dhawan took a few steps down but he waited for it, clear from Jordan, who ran in front of Dhawan – fielded the ball and smacked at the stumps. Rajapaksa overturned but was not about to defeat the throw. The ball missed the stumps, but Dhoni was charging. He collected with both hands and threw it over the stumps while diving forward to find the batsman short.

Earlier, CSK had won the toss and decided to bowl against Punjab Kings. Chennai Super Kings won the toss and elected to bowl against Punjab Kings in an Indian Premier League match here on Sunday. PBKS brought in pacer Vaibhav Arora in place of left-arm spinner Harpreet Brar, while all-rounder Raj Angad Bawa was replaced by keeper-batsman Jitesh Sharma.
Chris Jordan came in place of Tushar Deshpande for CSK.
Earlier Dhoni entered an exclusive club and became the second Indian player to play 350 T20I games. The current captain of India Rohit Sharma has played the most T20 matches for India which is 372 in number. Dhoni is followed by Suresh Raina who has played 329 matches and is followed by Dinesh Karthik, Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan. Dhoni had recently stepped down as the captain of CSK after which he handed it over to Ravindra Jadeja.
Meanwhile, CSK have struggled so far in the IPL under the new captain, who gave them a poor start, losing the first two games against KKR and LSG. It reminded fans of IPL 2020 where they failed to make it to the play-offs for the first time since the start of IPL.
