IPL 2022, PBKS vs SRH, Team News: Here’s why Mayank missed out on Agarwal; Sunrisers took the field

Sunrisers Hyderabad will be looking to register their fourth consecutive win when they take the field against Punjab Kings in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 match no. 28 at the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai. The Kane Williamson-led side has been on a roll after a few hiccups at the start of the season. After losing his first two games, he made a spectacular comeback and defeated defending champions Chennai Super Kings, followed by Gujarat Titans and Kolkata Knight Riders. Sunday’s win against Punjab will take them straight to the fourth spot in the points table.

Meanwhile, SRH skipper Kane Williamson won the toss and opted to bowl against PBKS. He has entered the field with an unchanged XI which defeated KKR a few days back.

“We will bowl first. This is something that we have done recently; We just need to play according to our plan. The wicket will stick around for the rest of the game, just need to make those small corrections, the signs are good, and need to adapt to the conditions soon. Same team for us,” Williamson said at the toss.

PNKS, on the other hand, suffered a major setback as skipper Mayank Agarwal missed with a toe injury. In his absence, India opener Shikhar Dhawan stepped down as captain, while young batsman Prabhsimran Singh has been added to the line-up as a replacement.

“Mayank hurt his toe, he should be fine for the next game. So, there is just one change for us – Prabhsimran is in. We are doing well without depending on individuals – need to continue to play well as a unit, bowling can be better, we are working on that. The team is new and we are taking time to settle down. The toss can be an advantage, it’s a bit sticky, the ball can turn, but if we score well, we can put them under pressure,” Dhawan said on the toss.

Here are the playing XI:

Sunrisers Hyderabad: Abhishek Sharma, Kane Williamson (c), Rahul Tripathi, Aiden Markram, Nicholas Pooran (wk), Shashank Singh, Jagdish Suchith, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Marco Janssen, Umran Malik, T Natarajan.

Punjab Kings: Shikhar Dhawan(c), Prabhsimran Singh, Jonny Bairstow, Liam Livingstone, Jitesh Sharma(w), Shahrukh Khan, Odean Smith, Kagiso Rabada, Rahul Chahar, Vaibhav Arora, Arshdeep Singh.
