People in Surat could not calm down when Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni arrived in the city for a pre-IPL training camp. Fans gathered in large numbers on the streets and their hearts rejoiced when they saw the legendary wicketkeeper-batsman sitting in the team bus.
The defending champions have decided to set up their pre-season base in Surat as Gujarat is a neighboring state of Maharashtra where the fifteenth edition of the tournament is scheduled to begin on March 26. CSK CEO Kasi Vishwanath said training in Surat will help the team. Get used to soil based wickets and other conditions that are expected in the main event.

Since the team is in the city, fans keep gathering outside the stadium where Dhoni & Co is currently training. On Monday, the franchise shared a video on Twitter and thanked the people of Surat for showering their love on Super Kings.
“Surat! Those eyes that smile from the heart bring us joy wherever we go!” – tweeted CSK.
The video is proof of how much cricket fans admire the former India captain, who will be back in action against Kolkata Knight Riders in the first match of the season at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

The BCCI on Sunday released the full schedule of the tournament in which all the 10 teams will play 14 matches each. A total of 70 league matches and 4 playoff games will be played over a period of 65 days. In all, there will be 20 matches each at Wankhede Stadium and DY Patil Stadium, 15 matches each at Brabourne and MCA International Stadium, Pune.
As CSK gear up for the season, questions have been raised over the availability of ace pacer Deepak Chahar, who suffered an injury during the T20I against West Indies at home. He had earlier played for the franchise and was bought again by the Super Kings for Rs 14 crore in the mega auction this year.
