Summer Special Trains: Ministry of Railways has announced that it will operate 217 special trains during the summer season, covering 4,010 trips. The move is aimed at providing convenience to commuters and reduce the extra rush expected during this period. The special trains will connect major destinations across India through rail routes and cater to the travel needs of commuters heading to popular tourist destinations like Patna, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Chennai. This facility will be available only during summer.

According to the statement, South Western Railway will operate 69 special trains, while South Central Division has planned 48 such trains. The South Western Railway zone will cover railway stations in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra and Telangana. Under this initiative, Western Railway zone will run 40 special trains, and Southern Railway zone will run 20 special trains.

Central and East Central Railway zones will operate 10 special trains each. East Central Railway zone, which includes Bihar, will run 10 special trains covering a total of 296 trips. In addition, four special trains will run on the route of the Eastern Railway zone, which covers West Bengal.

The North Western Railway zone has announced the operation of 16 summer special trains while the Northern Railway zone has not been allotted any such train. Railways’ notice mentions that only major stations under each zone will be covered in this initiative.

At present, apart from the number, name, date and route of these special summer trains, no information has been shared by the Railways other than the specifications of the zone. Passengers planning to book tickets on these special trains should look for an announcement from the railway authorities soon.

Once the announcement about the special summer trains is made, passengers can book their tickets and select their preferred seats through railway counters or through the official IRCTC website. If there is any change or addition in the list of special summer trains, the Ministry of Railways will inform the public accordingly.
