Microsoft To Roll Out Ads In Windows 11 Start Menu

New Delhi: Software giant Microsoft is rolling out new updates to ‘Windows 11’ including advertisements for other Microsoft products on the ‘Start Menu’. The company is initially calling it “notifications for Microsoft accounts” rather than “promotion or advertising”. These are now visible only to a small number of users and will roll out the feature to a wider spectrum.

Some users call them intrusive ads. They’re popping out in the Recommendations section along with the common tools and quick tabs in the Start menu. But some are finding it a useful way to access information they may be unaware of.

In the latest update, Microsoft fixed a few minor bugs and compatibility issues as well as a lighter taskbar.

Microsoft will allow you to turn off notifications

Microsoft is working on the ability to turn off. As Microsoft starts putting native ads or notifications related to its products like Outlook, the company is working to give users the option to turn them off in case they find them intrusive. They’ll toggle the option off in Settings > Personalization > Start.

USB4 – Separate page to manage connected devices

Microsoft regularly updates Windows Settings. A separate page for managing your USB4-connected devices was added in one of the most recent releases.

Under Settings > Bluetooth & devices > USB > USB4 hubs & devices, you can access specific USB4 hubs & devices settings page. You can dock high-performance peripherals, monitors, and displays to this new page. Additionally, it gives users knowledge about the capabilities and connected peripherals.

The USB4 page allows you to view the features and capabilities of connected USB4 hubs and devices and copy information to the clipboard to share with customer support during troubleshooting.
