South megastar Chiranjeevi presented the Indian Idol Telugu winner’s trophy to Vagdevi.
Indian Idol Telugu crowned its first winner on 18 June at BVK Vagdevi.
Indian Idol Telugu finally found its winner in Vaagdevi after a wait of almost four months. The grand finale, which premiered on Telugu OTT platform Aaha on June 18, reached a climax with a gleaming trophy to South megastar Chiranjeevi and a cash prize of Rs 10 lakh to Vagdevi. She also got an opportunity to sing in the upcoming Geeta Arts film.
Sharing her excitement about winning the show, Vagdevi told us, “My family is in seventh heaven right now. They are more excited than me. This is my first victory in my whole life. The last time I won something so big, I was in second grade. So, they are very proud and excited about it. ,
Vagevi said that the show came to her at a time when she was not aware of what she wanted to do in her life. “Indian Idol Telugu came at the right time in my life. I am in the final year of my graduation and I am wondering what I want to do next. Suddenly this show happened and I applied here and cleared the audition. Now, I have finally become the winner. So it was as if the universe was signaling to me that it was my time to use my singing skills.”
Vagdevi said that she wants to become a playback singer in the southern film industry. “I really want to sing for Keerthy Suresh. I like her a lot. I want to become a famous playback singer and at the same time, I want to continue with the classical music that I have been doing since 15 years. I have a sister and we learned to sing together so I want to share the stage with her wherever possible.”
Srinivas secured the second position and won a cash prize of Rs 3 lakh. Vaishnavi was declared the second runner-up and was awarded a check of Rs 2 lakh. Indian Idol Telugu was judged by Thaman S, Nithya Menon and Karthik.
