Punjab Home Minister Atta Tarar on Sunday said the administration was forced to “declare an emergency to deal with rape cases”.

Tarar also urged parents to teach their children about the importance of safety and that children should not be left alone in their homes without supervision.

The Home Minister also said that the role of the Punjab Forensic Science Agency would be improved for DNA sampling on a fast track basis and a meeting with the laboratory officials was scheduled for Monday.

Responding to a question, the Minister also expressed regret over the fact that taking drugs has become a fashion in elite schools and colleges, which is contributing to the rise in the crime graph.
