India expresses deep concern after bare-headed picture of Pak model at Kartarpur Gurdwara goes viral

New Delhi: India on Tuesday expressed its deep concern over the incident of a Pakistani model posing bareheaded at Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Pakistan.

Responding to media queries on the incident, Official Spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs Arindam Bagchi said: “The Pakistani Incharge d’affaires was called today to express our deep concern over the incident of insult to the sanctity of Gurdwara Sri Darbar Sahib, Kartarpur. . A Pakistani model and a clothing brand”.

Sharing India’s reaction to the incident, Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said: “It has been reported that this condemnable incident has deeply hurt the sentiments of the Sikh community in India and across the world. The desecration and desecration of religious places of worship of minority communities in Pakistan and Such frequent incidents of disrespect highlight the lack of respect for the faith of these communities.

In an official statement shared by the Ministry of External Affairs, the spokesperson said, “It was further conveyed that we expect the Pakistani authorities to investigate the matter honestly and take action against those involved.”

Pakistani model Souleha has drawn a lot of criticism on social media after her pictures of her without a head covering inside the Kartarpur Sahib Gurdwara went viral.

Criticizing the model, Shiromani Akali Dal spokesperson Manjinder Singh Sirsa tweeted: “Such behavior and actions at the holy place of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji is completely unacceptable! Can she dare to do this at her religious place in Pakistan? @ImranKhanPTI @Govtof Pakistan has taken immediate action to stop this tendency of Pakistani people to consider Sri Kartarpur Sahib as picnic spot.

Following the response, Souleha issued a clarification through an Instagram post and apologized for hurting religious sentiments.

“I had just gone to Kartarpur to learn about the history and learn about the Sikh community. This was not done to hurt anyone’s feelings or anything for that matter. However, if I have hurt someone or they feel that I do not respect the culture/religion there. I’m sorry,” she wrote.

“I have great respect for Sikh culture and I feel sorry for the entire Sikh community,” she said.
