No Vaccine, No Alcohol Rule: In an effort to promote COVID vaccination, the Khandwa district department of Madhya Pradesh on Thursday came up with a new rule, which banned the sale of alcohol to those who did not take the COVID vaccine. According to the notification of the department, alcohol will be sold only to those who have taken both the doses of the vaccine.

The order said that all 74 liquor shops in the district have been informed about the new rule that only those people are eligible to buy liquor, who have been fully vaccinated.

It underlined that this step has been taken to raise awareness about vaccination and encourage people to get anti-Covid shots as the mega vaccination campaign is on in the state.

Earlier, the Shivraj Singh Chouhan government had made it mandatory for everyone to get both shots of the COVID vaccine to avail benefits at government-run ration shops.

“It is mandatory for all ration card holders to receive both their shots and it is also the responsibility of the seller to check whether the customer has followed these protocols. If the seller finds that the customer has received their first or second dose If not found, he/she should request the buyer to visit the nearest hospital and get himself vaccinated,” the instruction stated.

The center aims to vaccinate the entire population of the country with at least the first dose of the COVID-19 jab by December 31.
