Darshan Solanki, 18, committed suicide by jumping from the seventh floor of the hostel on the college campus.

Armaan Khatri, the accused arrested in the IIT Bombay student Darshan Solanki suicide case, has got bail. The special court in Mumbai said that there was no evidence that Solanki was harassed on the basis of caste discrimination or that he was instigated to commit suicide.

Along with this, the court said that the allegations made in the suicide note are not enough to decide and punish that Khatri had instigated Darshan to commit suicide. In fact, Khatri was arrested on 9 April. Justice AP Kanade had granted bail to Khatri on Saturday i.e. May 6, but the detailed order in this regard came out on Wednesday.

Khatri had said – he has nothing to do with the matter
Khatri, in his bail plea, had claimed that he had nothing to do with the case. He was arrested on suspicion on April 9, almost two months after the incident. The Court, after hearing both the sides, observed that perusal of the papers on record shows that the Investigating Officer recorded the statements of the witnesses and seized a paper cutter at the behest of the accused.
