Gulzar won the Filmfare Award for Best Lyricist for the song Tujhse Naaz Nahi Zindagi from the film Masoom, in which he expressed the grief of a woman who has been betrayed by her husband, but also the feeling that her illegitimate son has to be left behind by his father. Mera Kuch Samaan
In 1987, Gulzar gave another gem to the Indian film industry with Izaat. Gulzar not only directed the film but also wrote one of the most memorable songs of the film, Mera Kuch Samaan. The song was written by RD Burman and performed by Asha Bhosle. Interestingly, Burman da ridiculed the lyrics when Gulzar initially gave him strange non-rhyming lyrics. While RD Burman composed the music for Golmaal, Gulzar penned a memorable song Aane Wala Pal Jaane Wala Hai for the film. Which was shot on Amol Palekar and Bindiya Goswami.
