Coimbatore: There have been two incidents of house vandalism in the city. The unidentified thieves eloped with gold jewelery and silver items weighing 10 sovereigns and 2 kg respectively.
According to police, in one incident, landlord R Muthukumar and his parents locked up the house in Krishnapuram near Karumanthampatti and left for his sister’s house in Thudiyalur last week. When Muthukumar and his parents returned home on Tuesday, the main door of the house was found open. The gold bangles kept in the safe were missing.
Based on Muthukumar’s complaint, a case has been registered at Karumanthampatti police station and a search has been started for the thieves.
In another incident, silver objects weighing 2 kg were got stolen By thieves from a locked house in Kutralam town of Kovaipudur. The house belonged to 39-year-old R Ramesh.
A police officer from Kuniyamuthur police station said Ramesh had gone to his relative’s house in Tiruppur. On receiving information about the theft, he returned home on Tuesday. Based on his complaint, a case has been registered.
Meanwhile, thieves broke into an electrical appliance shop on Trichy Road on Monday night and fled with electronic and electrical equipment including TVs, laptops, musical amplifiers and ceiling fans. Shop owner S Ajmal Shah inquired about the incident on Tuesday. Racecourse police have registered a case.
