Girl dies after falling from 11th floor in Pune Pune News – Times of India

Pune: A 17-year-old girl died after falling from the 11th floor of a residential apartment in Pune. Nanded City From Sinhagad Road around 9 am on Sunday.
Senior Inspector of Haveli Police Sadashiv Shelar, citing circumstances and preliminary investigation, said that it appears to be a case of death by suicide. “The girl’s mother told us that her daughter was depressed for the past few days and she was not able to cope up with her class XII science studies online. We are continuing our investigation.”
The police have not yet recorded the statements of the parents. He was in the first floor flat with his five-year-old son. The father runs a training academy for budding equestrians in Katraj-Ambegaon and the girl participated in national level equestrian competitions. Police said that he had secured 95% marks in his class X board exams.
Shelar said, “The CCTV footage of the area opposite the lift on the first floor of the building shows that the girl comes out of her flat around 9 in the morning to reach the 11th floor for a lift. She went to the corridor of the 11th floor that connects the flats on both sides of the building. No one saw him fall. There is no CCTV in the corridor. It’s hard to guess how she fell. No suicide note has been found from the spot.”
A first floor resident of the same building was standing in the balcony of his flat when he heard a loud bang. He ran down the stairs and sounded the alarm. Security personnel and other members of the society reached the spot. They picked up the injured girl and took her to a private hospital in Erandwane where she was declared brought dead. The postmortem at Sassoon General Hospital said that he died due to multiple injuries.
A local resident told TOI that the family had decided to take him to an academic counsellor. Another resident said that the girl was creative and was taking drawing classes.
An amateur horseman from Nanded city said, “I used to ride horses with him at his training facility. She was a prolific rider and participated in many state and national level competitions. She used to do trekking too.”
