Former US President Trump to launch ‘Truth Social’ next month

New Delhi: Former US President Donald Trump has announced on Wednesday that he will launch his own social media platform “Truth Social”. The platform’s bets launch is expected to happen next month, which will be for invited guests only.

“I created TRUTH SOCIAL and TMTG to face the tyranny of Big Tech,” Trump, who was banned from Twitter and Facebook in the wake of the Capitol uprising by his supporters on January 6 this year, was quoted as saying was the statement according to AFP.

The platform will be owned and operated by Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG), which also intends to launch a subscription video-on-demand service that will feature “non-voke” entertainment programming, the group said in a statement.

“We live in a world where the Taliban have a huge Twitter presence, yet your favorite US president has been silenced. This is unacceptable,” he added, according to AFP.

Since he was banned from social media platforms following the January 6 Capitol attack, Trump has been looking for ways to reclaim his internet platform.

In May this year, he wrote ‘From the Desk of Donald J. Trump’, but canceled it in just over a month after facing issues with social media site Twitter, which saw @DJTDesk violating its piracy policy. But Trump, who was also banned from Instagram, YouTube and Snapchat in the wake of the Capitol catastrophe, canceled the blog just a month later.

The former US president is facing a ban on social media sites because of his ties to the QAnon group, which was largely responsible for the Capitol attack.
