Former India seamer warns Chennai Super Kings to pull out of IPL 2022

On Sunday, Chennai Super Kings crashed for their third successive defeat in IPL 2021. It was a complete contrast to what happened in 2021 where the MS Dhoni-led side won the trophy. However, fans are already comparing it to 2020 when the team failed to make the playoffs for the first time in the entire history of IPL. Former India seamer RP Singh feels this could be another season where the Men in Yellow will once again fail to make it to the last four if they lose another match. He said that with ten teams in the field, the equation of making the play-offs has become more difficult now.

“Losing three matches somehow shows a tough time for them but if they lose another match, it becomes very difficult to see them make it to the top 4. Because then you were left far behind with a poor net run rate and low numbers. Of the matches played, said RP Singh on Cricbuzz.

“With 10 teams, you don’t even know what the math will be, how many points a team needs to score to make the top four. Today we didn’t see the CSK that we are used to seeing, be it top order or middle order, apart from that one partnership. So it doesn’t look like they are capable of planning and taking the game forward,” said the former pacer.

Punjab Kings put on a brilliant bowling performance to beat Chennai Super Kings by 54 runs in their IPL 2022 match at the Brabourne Stadium here on Sunday. Punjab, after posting 180/8 in their 20 overs, shook the four-time IPL winners with early wickets as debutant Vaibhav Arora claimed two, while Kagiso Rabada, Odeon Smith and Arshdeep Singh claimed a wicket each.
