FM Sitharaman To Embark On US Tour From Today; To Attend WB Group, IMF Meets

New Delhi: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will be on an official visit to the US from April 10, where she will attend the 2023 Spring Meetings of the World Bank Group (WBG) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

She will also attend the G20 meetings and other related meetings to be held from April 10 to 16.

The meetings will take place at the WBG and the IMF Headquarters in Washington DC.

Finance ministers and central bankers from around the world will participate in the Spring Meetings.

The Indian Finance Ministry delegation will be led by Sitharaman and officials from the Ministry and the RBI.

Some of the important engagements of the Finance Minister include the IMF-WB Spring Meetings, hosting of the second G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors (FMCBG) under India’s G20 Presidency and side events related to the G20, World Bank Development Committee and IMF Committee Plenary Sessions Are included. Interaction with global economists and think-tanks, bilateral engagement with countries and international organizations as well as interactions with global business leaders and investors in roundtables.

Sitharaman and RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das will co-chair the 2nd G20 FMCBG meeting on April 12-13, 2023.

Nearly 350 delegates from G20 members, 13 invited countries, and various international and regional organizations will participate and engage in multilateral discussions centered around a broad spectrum of global issues.
