Five children shaved off their beards in the manhole fire. Surat News – Times of India

Surat: Five children got burnt after burning sulfur and other inflammable powder extracted from firecrackers in Yogi Chowk area. Later a video of the incident which was captured on CCTV camera went viral.
Investigations by the fire brigade team found that the gas was leaking from an underground LPG pipeline and entered the drainage line. Gas was coming out of the manhole which started the fire.
The boys were sitting near the entrance of Tulsi Darshan Society II in Yogi Chowk area.
Later, they came out of the entrance and placed a piece of paper over a manhole and tried to burn the flammable powder by lighting a match. The gas emanating from the manhole caught fire during this time, as shown in the video and suddenly surrounded the children in a ball of fire.
However, they immediately got up and fled. “The children were not seriously injured. The fire was caused by leaking gas from a damaged underground cooking gas pipeline, which was coming out of the manhole,” said a fire official.
