Surat: A youth was thrashed for allegedly beating him up pet dog In two separate incidents in the city on Thursday, a stray dog ​​was briefly rescued, the video of which went viral on social media.
Both the incidents took place on Wednesday from different residential societies located on the posh Ghod Dod road.
At Aryaman Society, police detained Veersinh Sarvaiya for allegedly beating up the boy after his mother gave a written complaint to the police. Sarvaiya was later released.
The matter came to light after a video of the CCTV footage went viral in which Sarvaiya is seen beating the boy by the collar.
“Sarvaiya’s mother has some allergy to dog and had complained to the boy earlier that the surrounding environment is polluted by the dog. He went to convince the boy and they got into an argument over it after which the accused hit the boy,” said a police officer from Umra police station.
In another incident, Prayas Team Environment volunteer Darshan Desai is seen cutting an iron grill with a hacksaw blade to retrieve a dog trapped in the gate. The dog horse entered a house near Dodd Road and its head got stuck in the gate in the early hours of Thursday.
“The dog was badly injured as it must have tried to remove its head. Due to the alertness of the citizens, the dog was rescued and treated at our shelter home,” Desai said.
The dog recovered and returned to normal after treatment at PTM. The dog’s neck was bleeding because of the injury.
