What could be a bigger setback for a Congress leader than this? Rahul GandhiIn a display of opposition unity, Punjab MP Ravneet Singh Bittu from Congress and Harsimrat Kaur of Akali Dal held an abusive speech outside Parliament over agricultural laws, which sparked protests across the country.
Hitting out at Badal, who resigned as a Union minister last year for opposing the agriculture laws, Bittu told reporters, “The Union Cabinet had passed the bill when she was a minister. You [Badal] Later resigned. They (Akali Dal) indulge in drama.”
To this the SAD leader reacted, who said: “Please ask him… Where was Rahul Gandhi when all this was happening. This party (Congress) walked out and helped get the bills passed. He should stop lying. Gotta do it.” The shouting match between the two leaders was caught on camera.

When a journalist asked the Congress MP if the opposition was not united against the government, he said: “Kya unity. They (Akali Dal) have got the bills passed. It’s been five days… please ask him where is his party president Sukhbir Singh Badal?”
Tuesday’s breakfast meeting comes just a day after the argument that Rahul Gandhi is sitting with opposition leaders from more than 10 parties, over disruptions on a range of issues including agricultural laws, the Pegasus snooping row, fuel price hike and handling of the pandemic. The middle is discussing the strategy of Parliament. . This was the second meeting of the opposition led by Rahul Gandhi in a week.
Farmers have been protesting near Delhi’s borders since November last year, demanding that three controversial laws passed in September last year be scrapped. A large number of these farmers are from Punjab. The ruling Congress and the Akali Dal will face each other in the assembly elections to be held in the state next year.
