Apple iPhones, BMW Bikes, Mercedes – How IT companies are wooing employees with incentives

Information Technology (IT) Companies Hiring initiatives across India have accelerated and this year the hiring is at a record high. In the wake of the pandemic, everything shifted to digital platforms, and IT companies have maintained that momentum. The top 10 IT companies in India have so far hired 1.2 lakh people in the six-month period ending June 2021. This trend is mostly due to the high demand for software and digital services brought about by the pandemic, lockdown and the government. Upcoming work-home situation.

Even with all the jobs and mass recruitment by large companies, there is a clear shortage of qualified professionals to fill the positions. As a result, resignations are also at an all-time high. With job loss, poaching and bargaining becoming the norm in this job-saturated market IT companies Have done everything possible to ‘woo’ your potential candidates to take the job. For example, fintech giant BharatPe is offering BMW bikes to its employees when they join the company. In mid-July, it was also reported that HCL Technologies Perhaps Mercedes-Benz was going the extra mile to combat attrition rates by rolling back the practice of rewarding top performers with cars.

Some of the roles that are most in demand are data scientist, full-stack engineer, cyber security professional, cloud architect and artificial intelligence (AI) specialist. Candidates who fit these roles are being offered a cash bonus, or even an iPhone or better working hours for writing exams so they can get a job ahead of the competition.

With such high demand for jobs and such a paucity on a talent pool to fill these highly specialized roles, companies will continue to go out of their way and offer costly incentives to capture the talent they can get. As the attrition rate continues to rise, it is expected that salaries will also increase to retain the employees who are left.
