The Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra also said that the NCP was in the habit of projecting its leaders as the future PM or CM.

“Only half the truth has come out about the swearing-in ceremony in the morning. More will come. I will bring out the whole truth,” Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis told reporters on Thursday. The statement assumes significance against the backdrop of Nationalist Congress Party President Sharad Pawar’s recent statement that Maharashtra had a hurried swearing-in ceremony in 2019 and President’s rule was lifted.

Fadnavis took a jibe at the NCP, claiming that the party is in the habit of projecting its leaders as future PM or CM. The jibe was not just aimed at Supriya Sule, but also Sharad Pawar, Ajit Pawar and Jayant Patil. He hit out at the party when asked about the recent posters projecting Supriya Sule, Ajit Pawar and Jayant Patil as the future chief ministers of Maharashtra.

During a press meet in Ahmednagar, he was asked about Sharad Pawar’s recent statement, where he asked how President’s Rule would have been lifted, if Ajit Pawar and Devendra Fadnavis had not formed a short-term government. Fadnavis said, “It is good. Slowly all the secrets are being revealed. And it turns out that what I said was right. You have only learned half the things. Other things will also come to the fore. I told you, when I say something, the truth is revealed on the other side. Slowly I will bring out the whole truth.

Fadnavis had revealed in an interview a few days ago that the early morning swearing-in ceremony was organized with Sharad Pawar’s consent. He had said that the NCP president was the one with whom all the discussions took place. While NCP leader Ajit Pawar declined to comment on it, Sharad Pawar recently asked reporters, “Would Uddhav Thackeray have become chief minister if President’s rule had not been revoked?” The statement triggered widespread speculation on whether Pawar senior was the brain behind the surprising move.

Asked about the posters, Fadnavis said, “This is the system in the NCP. They keep saying, future President, future Prime Minister, future Chief Minister. But my best wishes. I have learned from my experience that anything can happen at any moment. Did anyone think that Uddhav Thackeray would become the Chief Minister? He became one. So whoever feels that someone is a future leader, my best wishes to all of them.”
