“Our embassy in Beijing, our consulates and ministries have been taking up this matter with the relevant authorities in China on several occasions since sanctions were imposed,” Bagchi said. Citing a statement by the Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman on February 8 that the country was looking into the matter in a coordinated manner and that arrangements for the return of students to China were being investigated, Bagchi said that the issue was also being raised. went. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi by External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar during a meeting in Dushanbe last September.

Responding to another question whether Wang would be visiting India later this month, Bagchi said he had no information about it at the moment.

However, people familiar with the matter said on Wednesday that Wang is likely to visit India, but no final decision has been taken yet.

It is also learned that the offer of the visit came from the Chinese side and Wang also intends to visit Nepal, Bhutan and Bangladesh as part of the four-nation tour.

Notably, the two foreign ministers held talks in the Tajik capital city on the sidelines of a summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
