Over 180.95 Crore Covid-19 Vaccine Doses Administered in India, Says Govt

More than 4.6 lakh vaccine doses were given to the beneficiaries in the age group of 12 to 14 years on the second day of the vaccination campaign.

The Union Health Ministry on Thursday said that over 8.21 lakh children in the age group of 12 to 14 years have received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine so far, taking the total dose of vaccine administered in the country to 180.95 crore.

According to ministry data, over 4.6 lakh vaccine doses were administered to beneficiaries in the age group of 12 to 14 years on the second day of the vaccination campaign, taking the total number of doses administered till 7 pm on Thursday to over 13 lakh.

In all, more than 9.14 crore COVID vaccine doses have been administered so far to beneficiaries in the age group of 15-18 years, while more than 2.16 crore (2,16,24,841) precautionary doses have been given to health workers (HCWs), frontline workers (HCWs). ) has been given. FLWs) and those aged 60 years and above with comorbidities. The number of daily vaccinations is expected to increase with the compilation of the final report by late night.

The countrywide vaccination campaign was launched on January 16 last year, in which HCW was vaccinated in the first phase. FLW vaccination started from February 2 last year. The next phase of COVID vaccination began on March 1 last year for people above 60 years of age and 45 years and above with specified co-morbid conditions.

India started vaccination for all people above 45 years of age from April 1 last year. Following this, the government decided to expand its vaccination campaign by allowing everyone over the age of 18 to be vaccinated against the viral disease from May 1 last year.

The next phase of COVID vaccination began on January 3 this year for adolescents in the age group of 15-18 years. India began giving preventive doses of vaccines to HCW, FLW and people aged 60 years and above from January 10 this year.
