Noida: Police in Gautam Budh Nagar and Ghaziabad have made elaborate arrangements to ensure the safety of people, especially women, during Holi.
Talking to TOI, Noida Deputy Commissioner of Police (Women Safety), Vrinda Shukla He said that the police have been instructed to remain vigilant round the clock to prevent any untoward incident. “Our main objective is to ensure that people, especially women, celebrate the festival in a peaceful manner, for which we are completely focused on women safety and crackdown on hooliganism. We will adopt a zero tolerance policy on such antics,” Shukla said.
For the past three days, women security teams have been conducting campaigns outside schools and colleges to ensure that there is no incident of color coloring on women without the consent of the men. “Police teams will be deployed outside major universities in Noida and Greater Noida So that the college students of the district can enjoy the festival of colors peacefully. Apart from holding regular peace meetings before Holi, special evening drives are being conducted every day near liquor shops and in market areas to ensure that there is no public liquor,” the DCP said.
Meanwhile, Joint Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Luv Kumar Said that senior police officers will also go out for patrol on Friday. “The ACP, SHO and other officers will patrol throughout the day,” he said.
Apart from the district police, two companies of PAC (Provincial Armed Forces) have also been deployed in the entire area. GB Nagar, “We have identified some vulnerable areas where police response vehicles and PCR vans will intensify patrolling,” Kumar said.
In Ghaziabad, SSP Pawan Kumar said that his team would take strict action against anyone found indulging in hooliganism. “Extensive deployment of police has been done in areas where major works are planned and large gatherings are expected. Teams have also been deployed at markets, bus and auto stands and other hotspots to check hooliganism. We have also increased security along the borders.”
