Noida: After vaccination campaign of 12 to 14 year olds in Gautam Buddha Town Health officials said that awareness campaign would be intensified and efforts would be made to organize camps in schools to ensure 100% coverage.
There are an estimated 69,814 children in GB Nagar and another 1.5 lakh children in Ghaziabad who will get Corbevax jabs. Interestingly, there are around 38,000 vaccine doses available in GB Nagar. However, health officials claimed that the process has just been started and it will take two to three days for the numbers to rise.
“We will intensify our efforts to create awareness among parents. We are also planning to increase the number of vaccination session sites to 25 from Monday and are already making necessary arrangements. Apart from the target population, we will make additional arrangements to cater to at least 2,000 more children who are eligible for Corbevax jabs,” Dr Sunil Dohre, GB Nagar District Immunization Officer, told TOI.

There are five vaccination centers on Wednesday – Barola, Jewar, Dankaur and Dadri and Bisrakh – in the district where the Corbevax dose is being given. In neighboring Ghaziabad, there are 17 vaccination centers catering to the age group. Health officials claimed that due to some technical issues, vaccines could not be administered at two session sites including GIMS Hospital on the first day of the campaign.
There was no vaccination session on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
Meanwhile, to maximize the vaccination drive, the health department is planning to organize vaccination camps in both government and private schools. “Exams are going on in most of the schools right now. After the exams are over, we will intensify the drive, likely by March 22, an official said.
ACMO Ghaziabad Dr Neeraj Agarwal told TOI that all 700 immunizations were walk-in on the first day of the drive, pre-registration facility will be opened from Sunday. “We have an adequate supply of vaccines for children in the 12-14 year age group,” he said.
As per the instruction of the Centre, eligible beneficiaries can get vaccinated either through online registration at COWIN or through walk-in registration at the immunization centres. Beneficiaries have to bring a valid certificate to ascertain the date of birth.
