Eid 2021: From home photoshoots to cooking games, five ways to celebrate indoors during the pandemic

We had two Eids and other holidays during the COVID-19 pandemic, and now we know what not to do during such festivals; Contacting relatives door-to-door, attending large gatherings or public affairs, and leaving home without a mask. But, have you figured out yet how to have fun at home during the festival? If not then this Eid we have got you covered.

Here are some fun ways to celebrate Eid from the comfort of your own home, without breaking social distancing norms and putting yourself and your family at risk.

make art

What better way to get together with the people you see every day than to start a creative endeavor together? So, make nice bags for the loved ones you can’t meet.

You can start making a list of people you want to wish cards and wishes. Think about what you need to send them, such as flowers, greeting cards, fresh fruit, and baked goods.

If you don’t find that artistic, there’s no reason to worry. You can always order some cards for your friends and family. There are also excellent resources open online where you can order Eid cards.

start cooking

What is Eid without delicious food? And, just because many people can’t go, and you can’t go out to eat at your favorite eateries, doesn’t mean you should eat mundane. Make a grand feast for yourself and involve all your family members in the cooking process. Family cooking sessions are not only a fun and interesting way to spend time together, but are also ideal home entertainment. So involve all the family members, and plan your menu in advance or come up with a cooking game. For example, give ingredients to your family members and see what they come up with.

decorate your home

Lamps and fairy lights are your best friends this season and let’s face it, as we navigate through these gloomy times, we all need the sparkle and magic of fairy lights. So, decorate your walls with attractive lights, decorate your home with colours, wall hangings and fresh beds.

As we continue to work from home, our homes can always use a little facelift to make our indoor time more enjoyable and a festival is a perfect time to decorate it.

host an online party

Send an invite to an online party with a gift package, food, and a card you made. There are many video applications like Zoom and Skype where you can host the party.

Anyone can play games to make the party as interesting as family bingo. You can find bingo sheets online, print them out, and send them with your invites. The game can be holiday-themed or with a lifetime of fun stories based around that family vacation.

If you have kids around and you want to play something that engages them, go for PEDIA. This is a game for all ages. You’ll have a great time playing it with the people you love, even if you’re not together.

You can also play games like stork and tambola.

do photoshoot at home

It’s Eid, so you want to get ready but don’t have pictures. Wear your best outfits and pose for the ‘gram. We know that it is difficult to spend another Eid away from the usual festivals and indoors. Still, we can’t go out and party right now. So stay at home and be safe.
