Dry Days to be Observed in Delhi for Three Days Due to MCD Elections

Dry days are those days when the government prohibits the sale of liquor in shops, clubs, bars, etc. on a particular day.

The city’s excise department announced that the national capital will observe ‘dry day’ for three days from Friday. A temporary ban on the sale of liquor will come into effect in view of the MCD elections in Delhi. Apart from the next three days, December 7, the day the votes will be counted, will also be observed as a dry day.

In a notification, Delhi Commissioner (Excise) Krishna Mohan Uppu said on Wednesday that in pursuance of the provisions of Rule 52 of the Delhi Excise Rules, 2010, it is hereby ordered that the period from December 2 to December 4 and December 7 under “Dry” will be celebrated as Day”.

Dry days are those days when the government prohibits the sale of liquor in shops, clubs, bars, etc. on a particular day. “The period from 17:30 hours of December 2, 2022 (Friday) till 17:30 hours of December 4, 2022 (Sunday), shall be observed as ‘Dry Days’ in addition to the above dry days,” the notification said.

The municipal elections spread over 250 wards are to be held on December 4. The elections are generally being seen as a contest between the AAP, the BJP and the Congress. The Delhi Municipal Corporation election in the national capital is on Sunday.
