Recent reports suggest that Ranveer Singh, Kiara Advani starrer Don 3 will be made on a budget of Rs 275 crores.

Ranveer Singh is all set to play the iconic role of Don in the third installment of Farhan Akhtar’s popular film franchise of the same name. The actor has replaced Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, who played the Don in the 2006 and 2011 hit action thrillers. With Kiara Advani’s entry as the female lead, the fans are hoping for the franchise to take forward the legacy of Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan. Now, if reports are to be believed, the third part of Don 3 will be made at a whopping budget of Rs Rs. 275 crores.

According to a source close to the entertainment portal Bollywood Hungama, Farhan Akhtar is keen to mount Don 3 as a global thriller, “Don 1 and Don 2 with Shah Rukh Khan were made on decent budgets, but with Don 3, Farhan Akhtar aims to make a global film. The vision with Don 3 is not just to compete with action films of India, but also to go global on the scale front. Don 3 is Farhan’s attempt to make a global action thriller and no one better than Ranveer Singh to spearhead the franchise in the new era,” the source informed.

Disclosing more information about the budget of the film, the source shared, “The action has been visualized in a way that Don 3 stands tall against the Spy Universe. However, what separates Don 3 from other action films of India is the protagonist, who has shades of negative elements.”

Farhan shocked everyone last year after he dropped a teaser of Don 3 confirming that Ranveer Singh is replacing Shah Rukh Khan as the new Don. The teaser opened in an apartment against a breathtaking skyline of a city, with Ranveer Singh’s voiceover going, “Sher jo so raha hain woh jagega kab, puchte hai yeh sab. Unse keh do phir jaag utha hoon main, aur phir samne jald aane ko…”

Later in an interview with BBC Asian Network, Farhan broke his silence on the backlash he received for replacing SRK in Don 3. “I’m just really looking forward to get it going. I mean Ranveer is amazing. He’s great for the part. He’s also as you can imagine, really excited and really nervous, about the thing you’re filling some big shoes before you. But we went through the same emotional process when Shah Rukh did it and everyone was like ‘Oh my God, how can you replace Mr. Bachchan?.’ That whole thing happened then,” he said.
