Exclusive interview of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind KejriwalAlmost a month after the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) registered its landslide victory in the Punjab Assembly elections, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal spoke exclusively to India TV on Monday. The party won 92 out of 117 seats, well ahead of the majority mark of 59 seats.

India TV senior executive editor Sourav Sharma questioned the AAP national convener on several issues. In one such instance, Kejriwal was asked how he sees himself in national politics, to which he replied, “All political parties have looted our country over the years, now is the time and these parties He should improvise in his own way.” “The AAP governments in Delhi and Punjab are ready to teach them,” he said. With the Congress in disarray, the AAP, which currently rules Delhi and Punjab, is looking to present an alternative to the voters.

Kejriwal, however, outrightly rejected any ambition to lead the country as the Prime Minister of the country. “Earlier I used to work for the slum dwellers, God gave me a chance and today I am working as the CM of Delhi. God gave us another chance to lead Punjab and now we are there too. We are working. We are continuously working for the people.” It is not my intention to cling to power just for the sake of politics, said the Delhi CM.

Notably, Kejriwal has launched a campaign campaign for the assembly elections in BJP-ruled Gujarat to be held in December this year. On Sunday, Kejriwal and his Punjab counterpart Bhagwant Mann offered prayers at the Swaminarayan Temple in Ahmedabad.

Later in the day, he met top party leaders in the state, members of core committee and frontal organisations, where they discussed AAP’s state-level organization and the current political situation. The duo also held indoor meetings with people belonging to various political and social organizations as well as talented people from different fields. Some Congress leaders are also among those who met the two Chief Ministers. He started his Ahmedabad tour by visiting Sabarmati Ashram and paying homage to Mahatma Gandhi. Later in the day, he held a roadshow in Nikol and Bapunagar areas of the city, which saw a huge gathering of party members and supporters.

Gujarat is the home state of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, where the BJP has been ruling since 1995.
