Yuzvendra Chahal never saw it coming. He was having his dinner when he got the news that he has been dropped from India’s T20I squad for the 2021 ICC T20 World Cup. Chahal had a great IPL and was sure that he would make it to the playing XI. But here he was, not even at fifteen! While talking to RCB podcast, he revealed that he was having his food but could not finish it when the news broke.

“The team was supposed to be announced at 9:30 and then there was a slight delay. I swear I didn’t know my name wouldn’t come up. When the list came, I didn’t say anything to anyone for a few minutes.”

“My wife was asking me about the announcement and I sent her the screenshot. Dinner had arrived, but that night I did not feel like eating anything. Felt very low as I was not dropped even once for five years,” Chahal told on RCB podcast

He said, ‘My target is to become the first bowler to take 200 wickets in the IPL. Apart from this, I also want to continue playing for Team India for the next 5-6 years,” he added.

He was dropped and a new spinner Rahul Chahar was picked in his place. The selectors revealed that Chahar’s pace would be more appropriate in the UAE wicket and it had started going with a younger player than Chahal. However, Chahal made a comeback when New Zealand called up, missing out on an opportunity to play in an ICC event. He was also ineffective against South Africa. India lost their first two games in the tournament, losing to Pakistan by ten wickets in the opener before going down to New Zealand. He is currently preparing for the three-match ODI series against West Indies.
