Delta vs Delta Plus COVID Version: Delta or Delta Plus Version? Which is the biggest threat and why?

While the delta version of the coronavirus was heavily responsible for driving a deadly second wave, the rise of cases was also quite rapid with the variant due to its high transmission potential. However, the delta plus variant, which contains mutations from the delta variant, is labeled even more related. In comparison, the Delta Plus version is said to have spreads about ’60 percent faster’ than the Delta version.

However, where clinical observations have suggested a high infectious risk, the presence of the delta plus variant is still on the lower side and has only been found to spread much slower than expected. As of today, three states have the highest number of diagnosed cases of the new variant- Maharashtra, Kerala and Madhya Pradesh.

Now, while the delta variant is still a major COVID strain, and the virus is much more active, experts suggest that the delta variant, with its more striking symptoms, may remain a threat we may face.

The available evidence on transmissibility and prevalence has also been agreed through studies and genomic findings. According to experts, Delta Plus, despite its serious features and ability to spread rapidly, is not really growing that fast right now.
