A 30-year-old woman has alleged that her in-laws pushed her from the balcony of the house, following which the Delhi Police has registered a case, officials said. The Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) said in a statement that it has received a complaint from the victim’s family.

The DCW has sent a notice to the Delhi Police demanding registration of an FIR and immediate arrest of the accused. Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Priyanka Kashyap said, “A case under section 307 (attempt to murder) of IPC has been registered on the basis of the statement of the victim, the medico-legal case and the interrogation conducted so far in the case.” Investigation has been started.”

In a video, which was posted by DCW chief Swati Maliwal on Twitter, the woman alleged that she was pushed by her in-laws while she was standing on the balcony. The DCW has asked Delhi Police to submit an action taken report (ATR) in the matter by Monday evening.

The woman’s father told DCW that he received a call on Friday informing him that his daughter had been admitted to the hospital after falling from the stairs of his house. He alleged that when he went to his daughter’s house, his neighbors told him that he was pushed from a height. Her daughter’s in-laws have been harassing her since her daughter got married three years ago, the statement said.

The DCW said that the woman has been admitted to the hospital in a very serious condition at present. It also asked the police to record the statement of the woman before the magistrate in the hospital itself.
