New Delhi: Police in Delhi have detained a boy on suspicion of molestation after he allegedly used a false Instagram account to upload personal pictures of a minor girl from Pune.
According to the police, the accused is a resident of Mayur Vihar in New Delhi. According to a press release published on Wednesday, a man contacted a teenage girl from Pune using social media sites. He then obtained private and private photos of her and used a false Instagram account to publicly defame and manipulate her.

The girl’s father has lodged a report in the cyber police station. The accused have been charged under the Indian Penal Code, the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act and the Information Technology Act.
A police probe into the situation, conducted by Senior Inspector DS Heck, has been launched. A technical study of the false account was carried out by the police, which determined that the perpetrator was based in Delhi.
According to the police, on July 5, a squad went to Delhi and nabbed the man. He was taken to Pune and produced before a special court for POCSO cases. The accused was kept in police custody till July 12 for further investigation by the court. The Cyber Police Station has warned the public, especially children, to beware of anyone trying to contact them through social media.
